Room 5 – GIARDINO JULIANA

“Juliana,” the garden in the mountains, was created by Alberto Bois De Chesne, from Trieste, mountaineer and hunter, but more importantly expert of natural science and botanist. De Chesne, close friend with Julius Kugy, fulfilled his lifetime dream in 1926 when he bought a piece of land in Santa Maria of Val Trenta with the goal of collecting in one area the largest possible number of different species of flowers and plants of the Julian Alps. By 1930 the garden showcased over 800 different plants! The “Juliana” garden is located in the Trenta Valley, only 2 hours away from Valbruna via a scenic drive into Slovenija. “June 5-8 1938, three days in the joy of the paradise of flowers, Juliana!” Julius Kugy.
