“Dear Marco: I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the Valbruna Inn. We felt very much at home there. The facilities were great. I was amazed to find all the modern conveniences in a village inn. Everyone enjoyed the theme rooms, the fact that each is different.

I think you noticed how much we enjoyed the garden in back. Some of us seem to be there constantly. It was a great place to relax together. The library was also a very convenient place to relax after a hard day of hiking or sightseeing. We were all very comfortable. Mirella and the whole staff were just fabulous. Anna, Manuela, Mirella and everyone were so pleasant and helpful. The worked hard to make sure our every need was satisfied, immediately. I was especially impressed by the young lady who served our breakfast. She was so young, pleasant and eager to please that it was a joy to see her in the morning, even before coffee. By the way, the breakfast was excellent too. We were all impressed with the attention to detail, as when you came to check on us at the restaurants, just to make sure everything was perfect. You don’t get that type of attention very often.

Thank you and all the staff at Valbruna for making our stay so enjoyable. I am sure some of us will be back in coming years, although not in the number we had this year. I heard Beth telling a friend the other day, “If you ever want to spend a vacation in the Italian Alps, stay at the Valbruna Inn.” I also enjoyed see Davide again. I have attached a photo of him taken at Ratification Day in Gorizia last September. I intended to give it to him but forgot. Please pass it on. Best regards to you, Amy and the girls.
Ciao! A piu tardi!”

Karen Brown’s Italy Hotels 2009
“Although Marco Tonazzi (a professional skier for 20 years) lives in Vail, Colorado, with his beautiful wife and two little girls, he frequently returns to the hamlet of Valbruna in to the northeast corner of Italy where he learned to ski as a child. He so loved this picturesque, traditional village, majestically-framed by the Julian Alps, that he, alongwith two brothers and a group of life-long friends, bought a long-neglected property. Working with a skilled architect, they totally renovated the building and created a charming, chalet-style hotel.

It opened in 2002 and is a real gem. This is not an elaborate, sumptuos hotel, but rather a small, cozy, country village inn brimming with personality and unsurpassed, old-fashioned hospitality. The bar, which is the heart of the inn, is home to all the locals who gather here each day for a glass of wine, a cup of coffee, or just to chat. On the ground floor there is a pretty dining room, a cozy breakfast room with antique paneling, and a library with a collection of rare books on mountaineering and history. Each guestroom is unique in decor and size, but all are extremely inviting and ooze top notch quality in every detail.

If you want to splurge, ask for the Jof Fuart-a large, attractively decorated guestroom with a fireplace, beamed ceiling, and a dazzling view of the mountain peaks.”

” I wanted to let you know how much Katie and I genuinely enjoyed our stay at the Valbruna Inn. Staying at the Valbruna Inn was a very special experience for us. It is difficult to know where to begin to describe a place that is inviting, warm, relaxed, very nicely designed and appointed. The staff at the Inn treated us as family. Their recommendations for activities and dining were superb. I will not attempt to describe the views from the Inn and surrounding areas. They must be experienced.

I am pleased to recommend the Valbruna Inn to anyone that would like a relaxing vacation in the Northern Italian mountains. The Valbruna Inn is a very special place. Kind regards” Andrew A. Karow
